When you become a parent, protection becomes personal. The useful starting question is: what would your family need to keep life steady if one of you died?

Start with the life you want to protect

Write down the costs that keep your household running: housing, food, transportation, childcare, and activities. Then consider the plans you want to preserve, such as education or time for a surviving parent to adjust.

A salary is only part of that picture. Childcare, caregiving, and the work of running a household have a value too. Think about what you would need to replace or reorganize for either parent.

Take stock before you add coverage

  • What personal policies and employer benefits do you already have?
  • Which savings are available, and which are committed to other priorities?
  • What debts or housing costs would you want the family to manage?
  • How long might your children depend on your financial support?

Make the first conversation practical

Bring your questions and any policy summaries you can find. A useful review should connect the reason for coverage with an amount, a duration, and a premium that fits your household.

You don’t need to make every decision at once. Ask for explanations you can repeat in your own words, including what is covered, what is excluded, and what can change later.

Your family’s needs are individual. An income multiple or an online estimate can be a starting point, but it cannot replace a review of your circumstances.

What happens when we talk?

Bring your questions. We’ll make room for them.

  1. Start with your family. Tell us what brought you here and what you want to protect.
  2. Make sense of your starting point. Discuss what you know, what you have and what needs a closer look.
  3. Choose the next step together. A detailed review may follow. You decide whether to continue.

You can come on your own or with your partner. You don’t need every policy document ready for the introductory call.
