Before comparing policy names, describe the purpose of your coverage. Are you protecting the years while children depend on you, or considering a need that may last throughout your life?

Term: protection for a defined period

Term life insurance covers a specified period. It generally costs less initially than permanent coverage and does not build cash value. Ask about the term length, expiry, renewal premiums, and any conversion provisions.

Permanent: a longer planning horizon

Permanent insurance is designed for lifelong coverage while the policy remains in force. Many policies include cash value. The details vary, so ask which values are guaranteed, which are projections, and what obligations keep the policy active.

Compare the commitments, as well as the premium

  • What purpose would this policy serve in our family?
  • What could change in the cost or coverage over time?
  • Can we comfortably keep paying for it?
  • What happens if we want to reduce, change, or end the coverage?
  • Which parts of an illustration are guaranteed?

There may be reasons to use one type, a combination, or to keep the coverage you already own. A personal review can help you connect those choices to your family’s priorities.

If you are considering a replacement, understand the existing policy and the proposed coverage before making changes. Ask for the differences and costs in writing.

What happens when we talk?

Bring your questions. We’ll make room for them.

  1. Start with your family. Tell us what brought you here and what you want to protect.
  2. Make sense of your starting point. Discuss what you know, what you have and what needs a closer look.
  3. Choose the next step together. A detailed review may follow. You decide whether to continue.

You can come on your own or with your partner. You don’t need every policy document ready for the introductory call.

Your next step

Understand the purpose before choosing the policy.

You don’t need to arrive with a product in mind. Bring your priorities, your questions and any coverage you already have.
